A DECADE LATER, A DIVE BACK INTO PANDORA'S WATERS.
Years after its groundbreaking predecessor, Avatar: The Way of Water not only would continue the story of the Na'vi, but evolve filmmaking yet again, both narratively and technologically.
In partnership with Disney, we set out to drop fans back into the unforgettable waters of Pandora through digital and social content that not only explored the vast world of the new film, but the equally unforgettable production achievements that brought that world to vivid life:
- 1) Generate sales and viewership by showcasing world and lore of Pandora
- 2) Embrace the scope and polish of the film via ambitious, AAA content
- 3) Leverage film momentum by celebrating its director, stars, and critical acclaim
- 4) Drive franchise strength by delving into unprecedented production tactics
Here’s how we helped bring one of the most highly-anticipated sequels in history to the surface.
SOUND ON
Avatar’s visuals are unprecedented, but so are its sounds. Here’s how we activated with audio.
The Pandora Soundscape
Fans' return to Pandora greeted them with never-before-seen new ecosystems, each with their own spellbinding scenery, and unique new flora and fauna—as well as lush, immersive soundscapes.
To immerse fans across digital into the film and showcase its worldbuilding, we adapted film content into a shortform ASMR video that invited fans to turn their sound on and drop into Pandora's ecosystems without any of the distractions of music or dialogue.
Creature Deep-Dive
Fans weren't just re-entering Pandora—they were also encountering a whole new world of creatures. We created a multi-segment video to showcase a selection of the most important new creatures, leveraging GFX and curated film clips to deliver key intel, such as their biological information, their cultural relevance to the Na'vi, and how they fit within the narrative of the film.
Behind-the-Scenes Infographic
Given this second chapter was over a decade in the making, we designed a custom, carousel-based infographic that not only showcased the immense achievements of the film production team, but promoted the hours of behind-the-scenes footage now available to core fans who wanted to learn more.
